Secure Your Facebook & E-Mail Accounts And Forget About Hackers

It is stated that we must change our passwords periodically. But most of us don't change our passwords regularly(Including Me too :P). Sometimes we think no one will hack our account or our account is fully secure. But is it? Really?
Let's check it:

  1. While logging in any accounts either social networking or email sites, always make sure that you've typed the URL yourself and "HTTPS" is showing in green color before the www.websitename.com. This is because in the 'Hacking World' there's a very famous term 'Phishing Attack' which is used to get the login credentials even of your Internet banking sites. So, always be aware of the URL in which you are entering your login credentials.
  2. On FB, go to Account Settings >> General Account Setting >> Set your Username and use the username to login. Yes, you can login via your Username on any Accounts, whether it's FB, gmail, yahoo(unless you don't change it to ymail.com). And to add an extra security layer don't give your Email ID to anyone which you have used to sign in FB.
  3. On FB, go to Privacy Settings, In the section who can contact me  >> Whose messages do I want filtered into my Inbox? Change it to  'Strict Filtering' and you will not get messages for random people asking for to add them or so.
  4. On FB, go to Security Settings just below the General Account Settings >> Make sure under the Secure Browsing 'HTTPS' is selected. Since FB has enabled everyone's secure browsing in it's latest update but still make sure of it.
  5. Just below Secure Browsing is Login Notification >> Enable it and select the desired option by which you want to get notified when someone or you yourself login from different PC's.
  6. This is the most important part of the Security which makes sure that even if someone knows your password, s/he will not be able to access your account unless they have your mobile phone. In most of the e-mail accounts this step is know as "2nd-Step Verification" and on FB there is Code Generator for it. Enable the 2nd-Step Verification on all of your account and CHILL... ;) Every time you/someone login from unknown PC/Mobile which you have not saved, your mobile receives a code which you have to enter.
  7. Never ever use any of the FB apps that will give your Love %age, Death date calculator, Valentine, etc. They are nothing less than a trap to getting your account compromised. They all are SPAMS I seriously HATE SPAM. Always use verified Apps.
